Qualifying Information
The Junior World Golf Championship will be held July 14th and 15th in San Diego, California. This prestigious tournament will consist of junior golfers from over 73 countries that will be divided up into six different age divisions ranging from 6 and Under to 15–17. The CJGA will be sending both boy and girl junior golfers from each age category to this event. The selection process for this event will be done by merging all results from the designated qualifier events into one national list for each age category. Scores will then be adjusted based on the difficulty of weather conditions, course conditions, course slope, and course rating and will then be sorted by the CJGA committee. The juniors with the lowest adjusted scores in each age category will then be selected to represent CJGA Team Canada.
The Euro Junior Golf Cup, formerly known as the World Junior Golf Cup will be held August 1st to 3rd, 2008 in St. Andrews, Scotland. Junior golfers from Canada, the United States and Scotland compete in a match play competition for both national bragging rights and the right to hoist the John Clark trophy. Before the tournament, the team will have the privilege of participating in an elite training camp with CJGA Regional Coach, Sean Casey, at Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville, Ont. The team will be made up of 4 junior boys from each age bracket and two junior girls. To select the team, all players entered in qualifying events will be pooled into one national list for each age category. Scores will then be adjusted based on the difficulty of weather conditions, course conditions, course slope, and course rating and will then be sorted accordingly. Following this, the top ranked players will then be chosen for the team by the CJGA committee.
