Markham, Ont. (January 30, 2008) – It was announced today that the Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) and Golf Québec will partner to offer a competitive junior golf tournament in the province of Quebec in 2008.

Co-ordinated and executed jointly by the CJGA and Golf Québec, the CJGA Nike Golf Junior Series at Le Challenger will take place on June 7th and 8th at Le Challenger Golf Club in St. Laurent, Que.  The two-day tournament will be open to male and female golfers aged 11 – 19 and will serve as an international qualifying tournament for the Stephen Ames Cup in Moka, Trinidad and a national qualifying tournament for the Nike Golf Junior Championship.

“Golf Québec is very excited to partner up with the CJGA for the Nike Junior Golf Series at Le Challenger Golf Club,” said Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director of Golf Québec. “A big part of our mission is the development of junior golfers, and we are grateful that the CJGA has paved the way for Golf Quebec’s juniors to compete in such a prestigious event.”

“As one of seven tour stops in Quebec and the surrounding Ottawa Valley, the CJGA is excited about partnering with Golf Quebec in bringing a high profile tournament to the province,” said Earl Fritz, Executive Director of the CJGA.  “The Nike Golf Junior Series features great prizes and giveaways from Nike Golf Canada as well as an opportunity to qualify and represent CJGA Team Canada on an international scale.”
