JUNIOR WORLD GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Junior World Golf Championships is truly unique with a total field size exceeding 1000 golfers from an impressive number of countries and states. Since 1968, junior golfers have represented over 73 countries.  Many Junior World champions have gone on to enjoy successful careers on the PGA and LPGA Tours including, Amy Alcott, Notah Begay, Brandie Burton, John Cook, Dorothy Delasin, Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, Corey Pavin, Pat Perez, Joan Pitcock, Nick Price, Kim Shipman, Craig Stadler, David Toms and Tiger Woods.

Format

Requirements
Juniors who wish to represent CJGA Team Canada must meet the following requirements:   

  • Juniors must play in the designated qualifier for the international competition.  In the provinces of Ontario and Alberta, juniors aged 10 & under must qualify through a CJGA Junior Linkster Jr. Worlds Qualifier. (Please click here to visit the Tournament Schedule to view the list of qualifiers for each province.)                                                     
  • Juniors must meet the age requirement for the international event.                                                              
  • Juniors must be a member of the Canadian Junior Golf Association                                                                  
  • Juniors who are selected for CJGA Team Canada must reside in Canada.                                              
  • Juniors must be in good standing with the Canadian Junior Golf Association.                                              
  • Juniors must meet the requirement score for his/her age category:

Girls – 160     Boys 13 & Under – 158     Boys 14 to 19 – 150

*PLEASE NOTE THAT JUNIOR WORLDS QUALIFYING FOR GOLFERS AGED 11 AND 12 AS OF JULY 15TH MUST BE DONE THROUGH THE CJGA JUNIOR TOUR. GOLFERS AGED 10 & UNDER MAY ATTEMPT TO QUALIFY THROUGH THE CJGA JUNIOR LINKSTER TOUR

Selection Process:
The CJGA Team Canada Selection Committee will determine the juniors who represent CJGA Team Canada by the following process:

  • All results from the designated qualifiers are merged into one national field in each age category
  • Scores will then be adjusted based on the difficulty of weather conditions, course conditions, course slope, and course rating
  • The adjusted scores will be sorted by the committee.
  • Juniors with serious code of conduct violations will be removed from the list  
  • The juniors with the lowest adjusted scores in each age category will then be selected to represent CJGA Team Canada
* Note: The CJGA reserves the right to select team members outside of qualifying requirements including the right to offer the Optimist Group in British Columbia spots for the Junior World Golf Championships.
