MARKHAM, ON (July 31, 2008) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association conducted its annual fundraising tournament this past Monday at the KaneffGolf owned Lionhead Golf & Country Club in Brampton, Ont. as a number of Canada’s top touring professionals were on hand to support the initiatives of the CJGA. The day got underway with a clinic hosted by CJGA National Coach and PGA Tour swing coach, Sean Foley. Sean introduced a number of the professionals who were on hand and discussed the finer points of both the physical and mental sides of the game. The participants then played 18 holes on the difficult Legends layout. On course contests included a number of Long Drives and Closest to the Pins as well as two “Beat the Junior” contests. Mississauga, Ont. resident Brogan McKinnon handled the par-3 while Burlington, Ont. native Kristopher Kowalchuk assumed Long Drive duties. In addition to the professionals in attendance, a number of CJGA juniors rotated through groups during their round. After the round, a dinner banquet was held featuring guest speakers Cory Woron of TSN, Gerry Dobson of Sportsnet, CJGA Executive Director Earl Fritz, and special guest Damon Allen. In all, nearly $50,000 was raised to support the CJGA in what was a fantastic day for all involved. The CJGA Junior Golf Fundraiser will return in 2009.
