Markham, ON (April 24, 2008) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) will open its 2008 Ontario schedule this weekend, April 26th and 27th, at Peninsula Lakes Golf Club in Fenwick, Ont. A promising field of junior golfers will tee it up for what will be the first of 12 Nike Golf Junior Series events on the 2008 CJGA schedule as qualifying gets underway for both the Stephen Ames Cup and Nike Golf Junior Championship. The CJGA Nike Golf Junior Series serves as a qualifying event for two major tournaments as division winners will earn a spot in the Nike Golf Junior Championship while top performers will be considered for inclusion on CJGA Team Canada for the Stephen Ames Cup.
The prestigious Nike Golf Junior Championship, an invitation only event, will take place in Toronto in late August after all twelve qualifying events have concluded. The Canadian Junior Golf Association, in partnership with PGA Tour Professional Stephen Ames and the Trinidad & Tobago Golf Association, presents the fourth annual Stephen Ames Cup, to be held in August in Trinidad & Tobago. Stephen Ames is teaming up with his birth country of Trinidad & Tobago and his new home, Canada, to create a tournament so elite that only the top eight junior golfers in Canada and Trinidad & Tobago, aged 11-19, will be eligible to participate.
