He Extends Lead after Second Round of CJGA World Junior Challenge

REUNION, FLA. (December 29, 2008) – Defending champion Zeyu He continued his stellar play today during the second round of the CJGA World Junior Challenge at Ginn Reunion Resort in Reunion, Fla. as the 17-year old posted a division low round of 68 (-5) today in the Boys 17-19 Division. Another defending champion, Annie Park of Levittown, N.Y, carded a tournament low 68 (-5) to open up a six-shot lead in the Girls Division.
“I had consistent ball striking today. I played good,” acknowledged He after the round. He leads by six strokes at one-under ahead of Rocky Khara of Sebring, Fla. Local competitor, Motin Yeung of Orlando, is nine shots back of He in third spot.
Park, 13, continued her impressive play in the Girls Division as the young phenom recorded five birdies and one eagle on the day to go along with three bogeys. “I played very well today,” admitted Park. “I was happy to shoot under par and I plan on staying aggressive tomorrow.” Her even-par total has provided a six shot cushion ahead of Cindy Feng of Orlando into the final round.
In other divisional races, Parker Page of Louisville, KY continues to lead the Boys 14-16 Division by a slim three shot margin over Kalena Preas of Honolulu, Hawaii. “The course played a lot harder than yesterday,” said Page, who has recorded rounds of 73 and 74. Matthew Plunkett of St. Augustine, Fla. and Juan Velez of Colombia share the lead in the Boys 13 & under Division at 153 (+9) in what is shaping up to be an exciting final round.
Canadians in contention include Toronto’s Lucas Kim who is currently six shots back of the lead in the Boys 14-16 Division while James Mills-Holland of New Minas, N.S. sits in a very respectable fourth spot in the Boys 17-19 Division, ten shots back of He.
The final round will get underway beginning at 7:40 a.m. on the Legacy Course. An awards ceremony will follow the round.
