FOR FULL RESULTS CLICK HERE WHITBY, ON (August 26, 2008) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) conducted the CJGA Junior Open at Lakeridge at the Lakeridge Links Golf Club on August 25th and 26th. Perarasu Karu of Ajax, Ont. shot the tournament low of 151 (+7) to win the Boys 17-19 Division. On the opening day of the tournament a ferocious wind was blowing across Lakeridge making the course very difficult to navigate but Karu persevered and shot an opening round 76 (+4), which he followed up with 75 (+3) to win the division by five strokes. “The greens are really fast, so hitting the approach shots to where you want them was very important,” explained Karu. “It’s a really nice golf course. There are a couple really special holes.” Orillia’s Reid Moskwa clinched second place and Patrick Thornley of London, Ont. finished third. In the Boys 14-16 Division, Patrick McRae of Markham, Ont. posted a round of 75 (+3) in the final round to clinch the win with a tournament total of 155 (+11). “On the first day I had trouble putting, but I managed to bounce back on the second day and hit 15 greens and sink some putts,” stated McRae. Samuel Harris managed to hold onto second place, while Alexander Turner of Toronto, Ont., Jordan Romano of Thornhill, Ont., and Brett Geiser of Markham, Ont. tied for third. Mississauga’s Paulino Fernando won the Boys 13 and Under Division by ten strokes over Owen Bates of Mississauga, Ont. while Michael Richards of Cobourg, Ont. finished third. Emily Mau, a resident of Thornhill, Ont., was victorious in the Girls Division, while Nike Kalergis, of Maple, Ont. hung onto second place. Natalie Chung of Thornhill, Ont. finished in third.
