Richmond Hill, ON (March 25, 2011) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is set to conduct the first of four PUMA Challenge events across Canada at University Golf Course in Vancouver, British Columbia this weekend. A full field of juniors will be on hand to take in the PUMA Challenge that will include the PUMA Player’s Lounge for all players. Juniors will also be competing for a spot on CJGA Team Canada to represent their country at the coveted Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego, CA. in July.
With a full field in the Boy’s 15-19 flight, we are certain to have some exciting play on the weekend. Kevin Ko of Coquitlam, BC and Kevin Kwon of Pitt Meadows, BC head the division, respectively capturing the first two events to open the 2011 season. Other players to keep an eye on this weekend are Tae In Lee of Maple Ridge, BC as well as a couple out of province players Emmett Oh of Calgary, AB and Josh Zaporzan of Winnipeg, MB.
The Boys 14 & Under flight should play host to another great competition as Jordan Lu, winner of the first two events on the 2011 CJGA schedule, is back at it to try for a third straight division title. Curtis Chan of Richmond, BC will look to challenge the lead on the weekend along with Henry Lee of Coquitlam, BC and Logan Yanick of Courtenay, BC.
The Girls Division will once again be very competitive as a full field of girls will compete for the division crown. Anica Yoo of Port Coquitlam, BC will look to defend her title at the PUMA Challenge after capturing last year’s event by a single stroke over Jamie Oleksiew of Surrey, BC, who is in the field and will certainly look to improve her result. Last week’s runner-up Naomi Ko of Victoria, BC should be in contention come Sunday, as well as other notables Muni He of Pitt Meadows, BC, and Annie Songeun Lee of Surrey, BC.
The tournament will get under way at 11:20AM each day. Spectators are encouraged to attend.
