CJGA Heads to Greenacres GC for Double Qualifier over the Weekend

Richmond Hill, Ont. (April 8, 2011) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is gearing up for a weekend tournament, April 9th and 10th at Greenacres Golf Course in Richmond, BC with a full field of juniors set to compete in this double qualifier. Jordan Lu of Vancouver, BC will look for his fourth win in a row to start the 2011 campaign, an unprecedented mark in the history of the CJGA. Juniors will be competing for coveted spots on CJGA Team Canada for the Junior Worlds Golf Championship in San Diego, CA as well as spot to represent the West in the 9th annual Lipton Brisk Canada Cup set for Niagara Falls, Ontario in late July.
Lu will lead a very competitive Boys 14 & Under division as a number of skilled juniors will look to take the title away him. Leading the charge will be last events runner-up Curtis Chan of Richmond, BC. Santiago Bouyra of Qualicum Beach, BC should also provide a challenge to the field along with Jae Hoon Kim of Surrey, BC.
Headlining the Boys 15-19 division are a number of juniors with past success. Jake DuVall, a Victoria, BC native and member of last year’s victorious Lipton Brisk Canada Cup Team West squad will look to get his 2011 season off to a good start as well as earn a spot back on Team West.   Another Victoria, BC junior, Christian Nowakowski, will look to improve on his third place finish at the second event of the season in hopes of earning a spot n the team. Other juniors to keep an eye this weekend include Tae In Lee of Maple Ridge, BC, Ben Froese of Kamloops, BC, and Kevin Vigna of Coquitlam, BC.
Expect a crowded leader board in the Girls division as a full field of girls set to battle it out for a spot on the team.  All three Chua girls, Cherie, Cheryl, and Grace, of White Rock, BC are in the field ready to contend for the divisional crown come Sunday afternoon. Keanna Mason, the 2010 British Columbia Golf Bantam Girls Champion from Maple Ridge, BC will look to take home her first 2011 CJGA divisional title while Sydney MacDonald will look to get her 2011 season off to an good start making the travel west from her hometown of Calgary, AB.
The tournament will get under way at 11:30AM each day.
About the Lipton Brisk Canada Cup
The 9th annual Lipton Brisk Canada Cup is the only national Ryder Cup style event in Canada. The West vs. East Ryder Cup matches were designed to help elite Canadian junior golfers develop the necessary skills to handle intense mental preparation and prepare for match play events on the international scene. Team East leads the overall series 5-3.
