CJGA TELUS JR. SKINS GAME HELPS DEVELOP FUTURE CANADIAN GOLF STARS

Bookmark and Share

Grassroots event allows 80 aspiring junior golfers to experience the thrill of competition at Banff Springs,

host course to the 2011 TELUS World Skins Game

The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) in partnership with TELUS will stage the CJGA TELUS Jr. Skins Game for the second consecutive year in connection with the TELUS World Skins Game. Junior golfers will get the chance to tackle the Banff Springs golf course, host site for the 2011 TELUS World Skins Game, and experience the thrill of competition in this two-day event.

This unique event, taking place May 22-23, will be conducted under a Stableford format in which the juniors will receive ‘skins’ for their score, mirroring that of the TELUS World Skins Game theme. Last year, TELUS gave more than $15,000 to a local charity for ‘skins’ won by the junior players.

“The CJGA is thrilled to partner with TELUS and the TELUS World Skins Game to offer this experience to Canadian junior golfers and further contribute to the development of the game,” said Brad Parkins, COO of the CJGA. “Not only will this event give them valuable playing experience but it will also provide them with a lifetime of unique memories.”

Every junior who participates in the event will receive a pair of tickets to the TELUS World Skins Game, taking place July 25-26, allowing them to see their golf heroes in person, as well as a chance to take part in some special golf experiences, including serving as a walking standard bearer for the pros during the main event at Banff Springs.

“TELUS believes in supporting our youth in leading healthy and balanced lifestyles and we are pleased to give a boost to these young athletes by helping them connect with a sport they love,” said Monty Carter, senior vice-president, TELUS Enterprise Solutions. “We are thrilled 80 junior golfers will get the chance to experience the course for the 2011 TELUS World Skins Game.”
