CJGA Set to Kick Off 2011 Junior Linkster Tour in Ontario

Richmond Hill, Ont. (May 3, 2011) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is proud to commence its Ontario segment of the 2011 Junior Linkster Tour on Sunday May 8 at Oakville Executive Golf Club in Oakville, Ont. This event marks the first tournament of 16 events in Ontario and over 25 across the country on the Junior Linkster tour.  With a full roster set for the series opener, players will be challenged at the par-63 Mystic Ridge course. This Sunday, Junior Linkster players will have the opportunity to warm up for what should be the start of another great golf season.  

Look out for Dylan Armstrong of Erin, Ont. and Kavith Ranchagoda from Richmond Hill, Ont. in the Boys 8 & Under division. Armstrong had top 10 finishes in three of the four events he played last summer while Ranchagoda claimed two victories on the tour in 2010. Local golfer Vasily Konachenkov will also be playing this Sunday in Oakville. Over 20 junior boys will be playing in the 8 & Under division, the largest field in recent history.
 
Competition will be intense in the Boys 9-10 division with Marcus Khaw of Burlington, Ont., and Carlito Reyes of Markham, Ont. competing. Both of these individuals had five victories last year, while Khaw was the proud recipient of the 2010 CJGA Order of Merit in his division. Also look out for Freddy D’Angelo from Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ont., who had one win, three second place, and four third place finishes last year.
 
In the Boys 11-13 group, Ryan Ahrens of Peterborough, Ont. and Nicklaus Naumovski from Halton Hills, Ont. are looking to continue from their stellar 2010 golf seasons. Both individuals scored a first place finish last summer, with Ahrens having top three finishes in four of the five events and Naumovski in all five of the events he played last year. Another notable name to look out for is Peyton Callens of Langton, Ont. who won all five of the events he played last year, including the Junior Linkster Tour Championship. This division features many skilled juniors which should make for a great day of golf.
 
From the Girls 9 & Under division, Savannah Grewal from Mississauga, Ont. is looking to start off the season strong. Last year, she won three Junior Linkster events, and was awarded the 2010 CJGA Order of Merit for her division. Some local newcomers to the CJGA from Oakville, Ont. include Tia Glube, Rachel Malone, and Fiona Skinner.
 
The Girls 10-13 group features many skilled golfers, including Rachel Bauer from Simcoe, Ont. who finished fourth at the 2010 CJGA Junior Worlds Qualifier. She will be joined this year by her sister Becky. Sukriti Harjai from Thornhill, Ont., who played in last weeks Junior Tour event in Ajax, Ont. will also be competing on Sunday. Another notable name is Olivia Trieu of Richmond Hill, Ont., who had four top-10 finishes last year.
 
Tee times begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
