Richmond Hill, Ont. (May 13, 2011) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is preparing for the second Ontario Junior Linkster event this weekend at Rolling Hills Golf Club in Stouffville, Ont. After a great showing at the first tournament of the season, the CJGA is expecting another full field of eager juniors for a fun day of golf. The Junior Linkster Tour’s programs provide a foundation for establishing a future in the game and teach valuable life skills along the way through on-course management and etiquette.

Kavith Ranchogoda of Richmond Hill, Ont. is expected to contend Sunday in the Boys 8 & Under division. He finished tied for third last weekend and won two events in 2010 at Highland Gate and Brookfield. Ranchogoda hopes his experience propels him to the top of the field this year after finishing fifth at the event last May. Shawn Sehra of Windsor, Ont. started his season strong with a second place finish in Oakville and is expected to challenge Ranchogoda for the title.
Freddy D’Angelo of Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ont. is moving up to the Boys 9-10 division this summer and wants to carry over his success from last year. He won the 2010 U.S. Kids World Championship Team Canada East Qualifier and finished third at his first event in the division. Kelvin Lim of Thornhill, Ont. and Dee Xie of Toronto are regular contenders in the age group and are expected to be in contention Sunday afternoon.
In the Boys 11-13 division, Will Leak of Toronto is expected to build off his impressive showing at Oakville after finishing fourth in the season opener. Jack Jelinek of Oakville, Ont., Tyler Cormier of Collingwood, Ont. and Jack Simpson of Toronto also participated in the first event of the summer and look to continue their development at Rolling Hills.
Sonia Nagindas of Aurora, Ont. is looking to win back-to-back titles in the Girls 10-13 division. She won the event at Rolling Hills last year and posted second-place finishes at Highland Gate and the PUMA Challenge. Isabella Portokalis of London, Ont. is moving up to a new division this season after dominating the Girls 9 & Under. She was also victorious at Rolling Hills and claimed the Junior Linkster Championship in the age group later on in the year.
Participating in the Girls 9 & Under division are Alyssa DiMarcantonio of Maple, Ont., Kieran Gerow of Brighton, Ont., Gracie Halcrow and Emily Zhu of Richmond Hill, Ont., Lauren Johnson of Barrie, Ont. and Hailey McLaughlin of Markham, Ont.
Tee times begin at 11:30 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to attend.
