Richmond Hill, Ont. (May 20, 2011) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is excited for its second Junior Linkster event of the Ontario schedule happening this weekend at Acton Golf Club in Acton, Ont. With a full roster of 85 players competing in five divisions, this weekend should be a fierce competition between many up-and-coming golfers. At its longest distance of 5155 yards and with water hazards passing through almost every hole, the par-63 Acton GC should provide a challenge to all divisions of players.

The Boys 8 & Under division includes the top three finishers at the opening event of the Junior Linkster tour in Oakville. Adam Kalwies of Burlington, Ont. claimed victory in Oakville with a score of 5-over-par, and last year he had several top ten placings including two third-place finishes. Shawn Sehra from Windsor, Ont., who came in second at the opening event, will also be competing, as well as third-place finishers Peter Blazevic of Burlington, Ont. and Kavith Ranchagoda from Richmond Hill, Ont. This is Sehra and Blazevic’s first year competing on the Junior Linkster tour, while Ranchagoda is a veteran player, taking in two wins last season.
The Boys 9-10 division should also turn out to be a close competition between a number of players who performed well at the opening event of the seeason. After his victory in Oakville, Justin Dicienzo of Niagara Falls, Ont. is looking for another top placing this weekend. Freddy D’Angelo of Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ont. will also be looking to perform well after placing third at the opening event. D’Angelo had several top ten finishes last year including a victory at one of the U.S. Kids World Championship qualifiers.
The Boys 11-13 group will include Matthew Anderson of Mississauga, Ont. and Marcus Khaw from Burlington, Ont., who both stepped up last week to compete on the Junior Tour at the CJGA Junior Worlds Qualifier. Anderson placed third at this event in Acton last year, while Khaw finished 2010 with an impressive record of five victories. After finishing first in Oakville with a score of 5-over, Nicklaus Naumovski from Halton Hills, Ont. will be looking for another strong performance. Last year, he placed second at this event.
Expect a close competition in the Girls 10-13 division between Katelyn McMahon of Brampton, Ont. and Alexandra Naumovski from Halton Hills, Ont. McMahon placed second at the opening event of the Junior Linkster tour, while Naumovski finished fourth.
The Girls 9 & Under division is comprised of a number of new members of the CJGA. In her rookie season, Lauren Johnson of Barrie, Ont. has already placed second at the seasons’ opening event. Tia Glube and Rachel Malone of Oakville, Ont. will also be in attendance after competing in Oakville.
Tee times begin on Sunday at 11:52 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to attend.
