CJGA Prepares for Another Linkster Event in Aurora

Richmond Hill, Ont. (June 3, 2011) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is getting ready for another exciting tournament this weekend at Highland Gate Golf Club in Aurora, Ont. The event, taking place on June 5, is the fifth stop on the Ontario Junior Linkster Tour and participants can expect great conditions throughout the afternoon. The Junior Linkster program provides an opportunity for emerging junior golfers in the country to develop their skills and become familiar with competitive golf.

In the Boys 11-13 division, Kyle Tumbold of Mississauga, Ont. and Cole Hague of Markham, Ont. enter the event after two great showings last weekend. Tumbold shot a +12 (84) to finish in second place while Hague ended the tournament four shots behind in fourth. Both are looking to capture their first event of the season. Other golfers in the division include Michael Von Schalburg of King City, Ont., Jak Yasuda of Stouffville, Ont. and Luka Vujeva of Toronto.
Dee Xie of Toronto is currently No. 1 on the merit points system and enters the tournament this weekend as a favourite in the Boys 9-10 division. Posting three top-five finishes this year, he is looking for his second win of 2011 after picking up the victory in Acton, Ont. Carlito Reyes of Markham, Ont. has been very consistent all season. He has 3 top-ten finishes and will be in contention at Highland Gate. Eli Mathew of Waterloo, Ont. is another name to watch in the division after posting a third-place finish last weekend in Cambridge, Ont.
Adam Kalwies of Burlington, Ont. and Kavith Ranchagoda of Richmond Hill, Ont. are back in the field this weekend competing for their second title in the Boys 8 & Under division. Kalwies won the season opener at Oakville and is coming off a fifth-place showing last weekend. Ranchagoda earned a spot at the Junior World Championships in San Diego after finishing runner-up at Cambridge. Other players to keep an eye on include Christian Leduc of Innisfil, Ont. and Troy Tsai of Richmond Hill, Ont.
In the Girls 10-13 division, Monet Chun of Toronto is going for back-to-back victories after winning the CJGA Junior Worlds Qualifier and earning a spot on CJGA Team Canada at the Junior World Championships. Jennifer Yoon of Oakville, Ont. and Elaine Surjoprajogo of Brampton, Ont. are also expected to be contenders in the division. Yoon has two fourth-place finishes this season and Surjoprajogo lost in a playoff at Oakville.
Alyssa DiMarcantonio of Maple, Ont. is also heading for the Junior World Championship after finishing third last weekend in the Girls 9 & Under division. Lauren Johnson of Barrie, Ont. has been close to victory in all her tournament this year, finishing runner-up at the first event of the year and fifth last week. Other golfers in the division are Kieran Gerow of Brighton, Ont., Megan Mulvihill of Belleville, Ont., Megan Read of Brockville and Hailey McLaughlin and Raesa Sheikh of Markham, Ont.
Tee times start at 1 p.m. Spectators are encourage to attend.
