Crawford Shoots 63 in Final Round to Win CJGA Qualifier

Crossfield, Alta. (June 6, 2011) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) concluded the final round of the Euro Junior Golf Cup/ U.S. Kids Teen World Championship Qualifier yesterday at Collicut Siding Golf Club in Crossfield, Alta. Golfers were competing for spots on CJGA Team Canada at two international events. The Euro Junior Golf Cup features young golfers from Canada, the United States and Scotland as they compete in three-ball match play. The U.S. Kids Teen Golf World Championship takes place at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C. and attracts talented young golfers from around the world.
Crossfield, Alta. native Patrick Murphy took home the title in the Boys 14 & Under division. He carded three consecutive birdies on No. 6, 7 and 8 en route to a final round 71 (-1) for a two-day total of 143 (-1). Andrew Brown of Calgary had a great Sunday afternoon to make a push into second place. He fired an even-par 72 and had four birdies on the day. Brett Pasula of Red Deer, Alta. rounded out the top three.
Aaron Crawford of Calgary had an outstanding final round to win the Boys 15-19 division. Sitting T2 after Saturday, he shot a blistering 63 (-9) yesterday for the five-shot victory. He had nine birdies and an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole. First round leader Jean-Philip Holliday of Calgary finished in second with two rounds of 71 and 72. Derek Roach, also from Calgary, ended the event in third.
Bria Jansen of Cochrane, Alta. picked up another title in the Girls 11-19 division. She shot rounds of 78 and 79 for a 157 (+13) total. Calgary natives Kelsey Major and Arielle Valencia finished in second and third respectively.
