Richmond Hill, Ont. (June 10, 2011) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is set to host its fifth event of the Ontario Junior Linkster Series this Sunday at Beaverdale Golf Club, located in Cambridge, Ont. This par-67/70 course should challenge junior golfers with water coming into play on almost half the holes, and trees lining many of the fairways. The Junior Linkster program gives young golfers the opportunity to develop their skills and character on the course in a fun, competitive environment.

The Boys 8 & Under division features a number of high performing junior golfers. Linkster favourite Kavith Ranchagoda of Richmond Hill, Ont. returns this Sunday after placing in the top four at all four of his tournaments this year, including one victory. Peter Blazevic from Burlington, Ont. hopes to shoot for the win after placing second, third, and fourth so far this year. Kelvin Lim of Thornhill, Ont., who won the tournament at Cambridge a couple weeks ago, also returns, as well as Adam Kalwies of Burlington, who has placed first, third and fifth so far this year.
In the Boys 9-10 division, Freddy D’Angelo of Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ont. returns to the field with ambition to take the victory this weekend. So far this year, D’Angelo has four top four placings. Also competing is Carlito Reyes from Markham, Ont. Reyes started the season with three top ten finishes, but expect a solid performance this weekend from him after he stepped up to finish in second place at Highland Gate.
It should be a close competition between Henry Moon and Kyle Tumblod in the Boys 11-13 division, who both sit at the top of the CJGA Order of Merit. Thornhill, Ont. native Moon has won both of the events he competed in this year, including last weekends’ Junior Linkster tournament. Tumblod of Mississauga, Ont. placed second and third at his last two events after finishing just outside the top ten at his first tournament of the season. Local golfer Konnor Rossdeutscher of Cambridge, Ont. will be playing in his first CJGA event.
In the Girls 10-13 division, Isabella Portokalis of London, Ont. will be looking to play well after placing second and third at her last two events. Elaine Surjoprajogo of Brampton, Ont. will also be competing. She claimed victory at her first event of the year through beating her opponent in playoffs, and since then she has had two top six placings.
The Girls 9 & Under division features Hailey McLaughlin from Markham, Ont., who has posted a stellar record so far this year. She has won one event and placed second at two, including last weekends’ Junior Linkster tournament. Gracie Halcrow of Richmond Hill, Ont. and Rachel Malone from Oakville, Ont., who both have a couple top ten placings, will also be competing.
Tee times begin on Sunday at 12 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to attend.
