Canada Finishes Second in Team Play at the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego

San Diego, California. (July 15, 2011) – Despite many up and downs during the week Canada finished second today in the Boys 15-17 Team Play at the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships at Torrey Pines Golf Course. It was one of many highlights of the tournament for the fifty three Canadians competing in this year’s tournament.
After struggling in round one, last year’s champion in the Boys 15-17, Adam Svensson of Surrey, BC finished tied for 10th and was the top Canadian.  Matt Williams of Calgary, AB found himself in the leader group in round three after opening the tournament with rounds of 73 and 70. Williams finished the tournament tied for 49th. However, the tournament belonged to Beau Hossler, of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA who finished the tournament -5 for the four rounds. Hossler is no stranger to being in the spotlight as he also played in this year’s US Open Championship as an amateur.

About Callaway Junior World Golf Championships
The Callaway Junior World Golf Championships boasts an impressive history with a strong line-up of previous champions including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els as well as many other PGA and LPGA stars. Since 1968, over seventy countries have been represented and the event annually draws a field of over 1200 junior golfers. Not only is the Junior Worlds important to all the junior golfers who participate but it's also a big week for college coaches, who use the tournament as a hunting ground for up-and-coming talent. One of the draws for coaches is the large international contingent the Junior World always attracts.
