Team East Dominates on Day Three to Win Lipton Brisk Canada Cup

Welland, Ont. (July 20, 2011) – Day three of the Lipton Brisk Canada Cup concluded today at LockNess Links in Welland, Ont. After two great days of fourball and foursome matches, Team East and Team West battled it out one-on-one to determine the champion. Only needing three points on the final day of competition, Team East proved too much for the western Canadians as they picked up six of a possible eight points to be crowned the winner.

Branson Ferrier and Preston Rindal faced-off in Match 5 after strong showings on Day one and two. The competition was fierce all morning as the match saw both players make spectacular shots. In the end, Ferrier pulled ahead on the final few holes to pick up the point for Team East.
“I’m so proud of our team,” he said. “Even though we had the lead heading into today, Team West had some great players and we needed to play our best to win.”
“Both Teams played well all three days, but we made the right shots when it counted. It was a great tournament and I think everyone enjoyed the experience.”
Team East now leads the overall series 6-3.
About the Lipton Brisk Canada Cup
The 9th annual Lipton Brisk Canada Cup is the only national Ryder Cup style event in Canada. The West vs. East Ryder Cup matches were designed to help elite Canadian junior golfers develop the necessary skills to handle intense mental preparation and prepare for match play events on the international scene. Team East leads the overall series 5-3.
