Watson, Manning and McMahon Victorious at Station Creek
Gormley, ON (August 7, 2012) – Station Creek Golf Club was the setting for the most recent CJGA Junior Tour stop. In a one day competition, juniors set out to put forward their best games in order to take home first place. Charlie Watson in the Boys 14 & Under division, Bradley Manning in the Boys 15-19 division and Katelyn McMahon in the Girls division were able to claim their first victories of the season.
A sudden death playoff was needed in order to determine the Boys 15-19 division winner. After Bradley Manning of Newmarket and Tyler Russell of Burlington both posted a 79 (+7) after 18, extra holes were needed to determine the winner. Both Manning and Russell made minimal bogeys and were able to make 2 birdies throughout their rounds.
It was decided after 19 holes that Manning would take home first place after making par on the first hole of the playoff. Blake Culley of Newmarket took home third after shooting an 80 (+8).
Toronto’s Charlie Watson was able to improve on his many top 3 finishes, and finally grab a hold of the top spot after coming in 1 stroke better over Matthew Anderson of Mississauga, with a 78 (+6). Watson had a fantastic round, only posting 6 bogeys for the entire round. Michael Borean of Kleinburg rounds out the Boys 14 & Under top 3 after shooting an 80 (+8) for the round.
Katelyn McMahon of Brampton was able to capitalize on her previous finishes and walk away with gold after posting a low 87 (+15). Sarah Kim of Toronto claims silver with a 102 (+30) total, while Kristen Wong of Richmond Hill claims bronze with a total of 113 (+41).
