Canada's Junior Competitive Pathway

CJGA to Kick Off 18th Season at Northview

Markham, Ont. (March 6, 2010) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) opens its 18th season on Monday, March 8 at Northview Golf & Country Club in Surrey, British Columbia with an international qualifying tournament. The CJGA North America Cup Qualifier will feature a strong field of the region’s top junior golfers.

The event will run on March 8th and 9th on the challenging Northview layout. Up for grabs are spots on CJGA Team Canada for the eighth annual North America Cup – a prestigious Ryder Cup style competition between CJGA Team Canada and the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) Team USA, which will take place in Bluffton, South Carolina in 2010.
CJGA Team Canada member from last season, Jamie Oleksiew, 15, of Surrey will look to get off to a hot start in a competitive Girls Division. The large Girls Division will certainly provide for some excellent golf in the season opening event.
There will be great competition in the Boys 15-19 Division, as a number of returning juniors will look to capture the first divisional title of the season. Jay Kim, 17, of Surrey, Andy Yang, 17, of Coquitlam, Logan Hallwas, 15, of South Surrey and Callum Robinson, 15, of Langley should all be contenders.
In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Kevin Kwon, 14, of Pitt Meadows will look to capture the first divisional title of the year against a number of strong competitors in the field. Henry Lee, 11, of Coquitlam and Jerry Bang, 14, of Maple Ridge should also be contenders over the two day event.
The tournament will get under way at 10:00AM each day. Spectators are encouraged to attend.
