Tight Race After First Round of Euro Junior Golf Cup
St. Andrews, Scotland – (August 1, 2007) – The first round of the Euro Junior Golf Cup was completed today in St. Andrews, Scotland as CJGA Team Canada faced off against the Fife Golf Association as well as the International Junior Golf Tour’s Team USA. Both Canada and Fife earned 14 ½ points on the day while the Americans follow closely behind with 13.
The top Canadian performers on the day were Calgary’s Jocelyn Alford, Toronto’s Brandon Ng, and Saskatoon’s Jesse Gibson as all three won both their matches.
The Euro Junior Golf Cup will continue on Thursday and Friday.
“The team came out and played very well,” said John Lawrence, the non-playing captain of CJGA Team Canada. “The competition is very good here with both the Americans and Scottish representatives so we expect a close race.”
