Markham, Ont. (August 8, 2007) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is pleased to announce its team members for the 3rd annual Stephen Ames Cup.  The Ryder Cup style tournament pitting CJGA Team Canada against Team Trinidad & Tobago is hosted by PGA Tour Professional Stephen Ames and will run from August 14th to 17th at Granite Golf Club in Stouffville, Ont.

The event, also supported by Nike Golf Canada, fosters goodwill and sportsmanship between the two participating countries.  The series is currently tied at 1 – 1 with both sides having won previously on their home soil.

“I am very proud to give back to junior golf in both Canada and Trinidad & Tobago through the Stephen Ames Cup,” said Ames.  “The event has grown tremendously in only three years and I look forward to putting the clubs away next week and watching some of our future stars compete.”

“For Nike Golf, being involved in an international, high caliber junior golf event such as the Stephen Ames Cup allows us to promote the game at the grassroots level both in Canada and abroad,” said Vitalis Gomes, Marketing Manager for Nike Golf Canada.  “As a strong supporter of the CJGA and its programs and a proud sponsor of Stephen Ames, we expect this to be a great opportunity for the participating teams.”

“Through the commitment of professionals such as Stephen Ames and the corporate support of an organization like Nike Golf Canada, we are able to offer this fantastic event as part of our growing international schedule,” said Earl Fritz, Executive Director of the CJGA.  “Granite Golf Club will prove to be a great test for the competitors as we continue to grow this event moving forward.”

CJGA Team Canada members earned their spots based on results from the nine tournament CJGA Nike Golf Junior Series schedule that was conducted across Canada in 2007.

A media day with Stephen Ames will kick off the event on August 14th beginning at 10:30 a.m.  Ames will be present for all four days of the tournament.
