Sioux Lookout's Ford Captures Boys 17-19 Division In Thrilling Playoff At Angus Glen

MARKHAM, ON- The Callaway Golf Canadian Junior Masters concluded Sunday on the North Course at Angus Glen Golf Club, in Markham, Ont. and those in attendance were treated to yet another glorious summer day as the weather was impeccable during the course of the entire weekend.

With a birdie on the first playoff hole, Ian Ford, 17, of Sioux Lookout, Ont. captured the Boys 17-19 Division, following a final round of 74. "That birdie putt to win the playoff was a memorable one," said Ford, who ousted Tae Woo Kim, 17, of Mississauga, Ont. on the first extra hole. Sneaking onto the podium to claim third place was Chris Gorham, 17, of Burlington, Ont. He fired a stellar four under par round of 68 on Sunday.

With an impressive round of two under par 70 on Sunday, 15-year-old North York, Ont. native Steve Lee was crowned the winner of the Boys 14-16 Division. "My short game has never been so consistent. I hit some good up and downs today," said Lee. 16-year-old Scarborough, Ont. product Ju Young Park took second place in the division, thanks in large part to a one under par 71 on Sunday. Third place in the division went to 16-year-old Rochester, NY resident Gregory Merz.

13-year-old native of Smiths Falls, Ont. Brittany Henderson captured the Girls Division. with rounds of 80 and 89. Despite her struggles on the final day, she feels confident heading into the Callaway Junior Worlds, taking place this week in San Diego, CA. "I had a rough hole on the back nine today but I played pretty well apart from that," said Henderson. Second place in the division went to 16-year-old Toronto, Ont. product Ali Landon while Eva Leckey, 16, who hails from Hannon, Alta. rounded out the top three.

A trio of 13-year-old Torontonians secured the top three spots in the Boys 13 & Under Division. With a two under par round of 70 on the final day, Daniel Kim emerged the victor in the flight. "The putting was a lot better today," said Kim. "That was the part of my game that I needed to improve upon." Second place in the division went to Cameron Simmons while Luc Robinson took home third place honours.
