Club de Golf Metropolitain Set To Host Callaway Golf CJGA Quebec Junior Masters

May 27th, 2004

MARKHAM, ON- The Canadian Junior Golf Association's Quebec/Ottawa schedule heads to Club de Golf Métropolitain in Anjou, Que. this weekend for the Callaway Golf CJGA Quebec Junior Masters. The event will also serve as a qualifier for the Callaway Junior Worlds, perhaps the world's most recognized junior golf tournament.

Ryan Sevigny hopes to succeed on the Metropolitain layout for the second consecutive year. The 15-year-old native of Stittsville, Ont. captured his division on this very golf course last season, so he is expected to figure amongst the top contenders in the Boys 15-17 Division. He earned a second place finish last weekend at Club de Golf Le Chateau Montebello, firing a tournament low even par round of 70 on the final day. The division will also feature a couple of players who have recorded top three finishes this season. Vincent Adams, a 15-year-old product of Boisbriand, Que. finished third earlier this month at Club de Golf Hautes Plaines, while 16-year-old Kanata, Ont. resident Patrick Sears captured the final spot on the podium last weekend in Montebello.

Another defending champion is registered to play in Anjou, Que. this weekend as Brittany Henderson, 13, of Smiths Falls, Ont. captured the Girls Division at Metropolitain last year. She will get some fair competition this weekend however as the Ottawa, Ont. based Stol sisters, Vanessa, 15, and Jacqueline, 12, are both in the field this weekend. Jacqueline has a pair of second place finishes while Vanessa has a third place finish to her credit.

Michael Boutin is expected to figure amongst the top finishers in the Boys 13-14 Division this weekend. The 14-year-old native of St. Hilaire, Que. finished second in his division at Metropolitain last year.

Finally, in the Boys 11-12 Division, Julien Goulet will be shooting for his second win of the season, having captured first place two weeks ago at Kanata Golf and Country Club. He will be pitted against the likes of Marc-Andre Doucet Lecours, 11 and Louis Philippe Paquette, 12, who are likely to take to the links this weekend with added determination, given the fact that they are both residents of Anjou, Que.

Tee times for this weekend's event will be posted Thursday on www.cjga.com

Age Divisions will be as follows for this weekend:
Girls
Boys 11-12
Boys 13-14
Boys 15-17
Intermediate Men (18-26)
