Markham, ON -The Canadian Junior Golf Association's Ontario schedule stops in Gormley, Ont. this weekend for the Mazda Junior Series at Clublink's Station Creek Golf Club, in an event that will feature a pair of defending champions.
Josh Bamberger's transition to the Boys 14-16 Division has been a smooth one so far this season. The 14-year-old native of Waterloo, Ont. has a pair of second place finishes in three events this season. In addition, he captured the Boys 13 & Under Division at Station Creek last year so he will be looking for another successful weekend at this particular layout. As for Lucas Leibel, his transition has also been a smooth one after capturing the first event of the season at Woodington Lake Golf Club earlier this month as a 13-year-old. The 14-year-old product of Toronto, Ont. finished in third place at Trillium Wood Golf Cup two weeks ago. Graham Baillargeon, the 14-year-old resident of Mississauga, Ont., will be looking for his second win in as many weeks, having captured top spot at Caledon Woods Golf Club last weekend.
In the Boys 17-19 Division, Bryan Hartog, 17, of Richmond Hill, Ont. will also be shooting for his second victory at Station Creek in as many years. One of his closest challengers however is expected to be Vito Polera, 17, of Maple, Ont. who captured the second spot at Woodington Lake. Benjamin Shain, 17, of Toronto, Ont. should also contend this weekend given his third place finish at Woodington Lake.
Helena Harbridge will be looking to build upon her successful 2003 CJGA campaign. The 16-year-old Toronto, Ont. native captured three division titles last season. She will be in tough however, as Sehee Kim is also registered to play at Station Creek. The 15-year-old Cambridge, Ont. product won one event last year.
Finally, in the Boys 13 & Under Division, Daniel Kim will be looking to make it to the winner's circle after barely missing out last year as the 14-year-old North York, Ont. resident lost to Josh Bamberger in an exciting playoff. He won six events in 2003.
Tee times for this weekend's event start at 11:32 A.M. on Saturday and Sunday. As always, spectators are encouraged to attend.
