The Canadian Junior Golf Association's Junior Linkster Program was established in Ontario in 2001 in order to introduce the game to emerging junior golf talents. In 2006, the tour expanded to the provinces of Alberta and Quebec with plans to increase expansion nationally. The tour's programs provide a foundation for establishing a future in the game and teach valuable life skills along the way through on-course management and etiquette.
The tour was established in 1972 in British Columbia as the millennium project of the JAC/Optimist/Junior World Golf Committee.
The purpose of the tour is to provide a competitive, but informal atmosphere to young golfers and to teach the basic rules and etiquette of the game. Each course is set up by CJGA officials specifically according to the ages of each competitor. CJGA officials are available on the course during the round to supervise competition and provide assistance to all competitors.
The Canadian Junior Golf Association is always striving to conduct professional junior golf tournaments. In doing so, we have created a caddie manual to help those who will serve as caddies on the 2008 Junior Linkster Tour. This manual will cover many different areas that you will find very useful while out on the golf course. It contains some basic golf knowledge and terminology, along with many tips on how you can be a better caddie for your player. We have also included many of the rulings that you will encounter on the golf course as well as a copy of the CJGA Standard Rules Sheet, Pace of Play Policy and Tee Settings for the Junior Linkster Tour.
The Junior Linkster Caddie Manual is available for CJGA Members participating in Junior Linkster events only. Caddie manuals will be given out with the membership packages at the juniors first event of the season.
The CJGA would like to thank Jeff Brown, President & CEO of Teaching Kids Business for his great contributions to the Junior Linkster Caddie Manual and his support of the CJGA.
