Dumais Wins Again at CJGA Adams Golf Junior Open

Acton, Ont. - Fresh off his recent win at the CJGA national match play championship, Caledon East resident Alex Dumais, 16, earned his second consecutive division title on Friday at the CJGA Adams Golf Junior Open at Blue Springs Golf Club.
Dumais closed with a final round 77 (+5) for a 151 total and a convincing five-stroke victory ahead of Burlington residents Chris Dowling and Brad Altenhoff in the Boys 14 - 16 Division. “I got some good breaks this week and played with some great people,” said Dumais. “I’m playing very consistent right now.”
Jamie MacDonald, 18, of Lasalette, Ont. separated himself from a close pack during the final round, closing with a 76 (+4) for a 152 total and a five shot victory over Han Baek, 17, of Toronto, Ont. “The competition was good,” said MacDonald. “I drove the ball well and hit a lot of greens.” Jonathan Kim, 17, of Toronto finished third at 158.
Gajan Sivabalasingham, 12, of Markham, Ont. held off several challengers in the Boys 13 & Under Division, closing with a 84 (+12) for a 161 total. “I like the course a lot,” said Sivabalasingham. “Could have played better but I kept my cool.” Kristopher Kowlachuk, 12, of Burlington, Ont. finished second while Kelvin Ho, 13, of Richmond Hill, Ont. moved up to third after closing with 78.
Kincardine, Ontario’s Taylor Schmidt, 15, played consistent golf over two days in firing rounds of 80 and 81 for a 161 total in earning the Girls Division title. “I played pretty good,” said Schmidt. “I sank a lot of putts on the first day and hit my approach shots well today.” Oakville, Ont. resident Hailey Ingleson, 16, finished second in the division while Amy Breakwell, 17, of Woodstock, Ont. grabbed third spot.
