Cho Makes it Three in a Row at Redwoods

Langley, B.C. - The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) wrapped up its B.C. Fall Series schedule over the weekend at The Redwoods Golf Course in Langley, B.C. as a strong field of the provinces junior golfers competed for division title. 

Langley’s Ted Cho, 17, won his third consecutive Boys 17 – 19 Division crown in his hometown after posting rounds of 70 and 71 (-1) for a 141 total. Cho defeated Mission, B.C. resident Ryan Stugis, 17, by eleven strokes. In third was Bradley Kohlrus, 17, of Sammamish, Wash.

Sue Kim, 15, of Langley was a second hometown winner, as she remained unbeaten on the CJGA tour in 2006 with a convincing eight-stroke victory in the Girls Division. Kim fired consistent rounds of 71 and 73 (+2) for her third win of the season. Victoria Choi, 14, of Port Coquitlam, B.C. grabbed second spot in the flight at 152 – one stroke better than third place finisher Soobin Kim, 15.

Surrey, B.C. resident Joon Lee, 16, held off a hard charging John Koo to earn his first division title of the year in the Boys 14 – 16 Division. Lee posted rounds of 72 and 73 (+3) while Koo could not make up a five-stroke deficit after the first round in closing with a 72 for a 149 total. CJGA Team Canada member Vincent Wang, 16, finished third at 152.

Surrey’s Kevin Lee, 11, captured his second division title of 2006 in the Boys 13 & Under Division after posting rounds of 74 and 78 for a 152 total and a three stroke victory ahead of Tony Ko, 11, of Langley. Nicholas Russell, 13, of Vancouver, B.C. and Jay Kim, 13, of Surrey tied for third at 156.

The Canadian Junior Golf Association will conduct its final event of 2006 in Palm Harbor, Fla. from December 27th to 30th at the Westin Innisbrook Golf Resort. The CJGA World Junior Challenge promised to feature a full, international field of competitors. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
