Cedar Brae to Host CJGA Junior Golf Fundraiser on Monday

September 7 , 2006

Markham, Ont. - The third annual Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) Junior Golf Fundraiser is set for Monday, September 11th at the exclusive Cedar Brae Golf & Country Club in Toronto, Ont. The event, presented by HSBC Bank Canada and hosted by CJGA National Spokesperson and two-time PGA Tour winner, Richard Zokol, will boast a field of over 30 participating teams of four.

The inaugural CJGA Junior Golf Fundraiser was held in 2004, also at Cedar Brae, to help raise funds for the many programs offered to Canada’s juniors as well as to alleviate the cost for international competition. The event quickly sold out that year with over 35 teams taking part, as it did in 2005 when the fundraiser took place at Marine Drive Golf Club in Vancouver, B.C.

An impressive group of PGA and LPGA Tour professionals will be joining Zokol at Cedar Brae to assist in conducting an interactive clinic for the participants and CJGA members and to play a few holes with the teams during their rounds. The star-studded group of golfers includes LPGA Tour professional Gail Graham, PGA Tour professional Ian Leggatt, Nationwide Tour’s David Morland IV and Brian McCann, Canadian legend, Jim Nelford, former CJGA member and 2005 NCAA Individual Champion James Lepp, and Canadian Tour Championship winner Stuart Anderson.

The clinic featuring all participating pros will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a barbecue lunch. The tournament, which will take on a four-person scramble format, gets underway at 1:00 p.m. with a shotgun start, followed by a dinner, prize ceremony and silent auction after the round at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Some of the items up for auction include framed pin flag signed by Tiger Woods, a framed, signed photo of 2002 Skins Game participants Mike Weir, Vijay Singh, John Daly and Sergio Garcia and other one-of-a-kind memorabilia.

Throughout the day, there will be also be many opportunities to win prizes, including $10,000 and a La Costa Golf & Resort vacation, in on-course contests such as closest-to-the-pin and hole-in-one competitions.
