CJGA Releases 2007 Graduation List
Markham, Ont. (October 11, 2007) – 40 junior golfers from across Canada will graduate to the collegiate ranks during the 2007/2008 season as proud alumni of the Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA).
The list includes a number of former CJGA Team Canada members including Nick McKnight, Brett Cairns, Graham Baillargeon, Trevor Edwards, Dustin Zhang, Thomas Hay, Thomas Petts, Ryan Sevigny, Brad Thompson, Kristina Gargaro, Buz Bowerman-Ritchie and Kyla Reay along with former CJGA national champions, Andrew Funk and Jonathan Kim.
“Congratulations to all of our graduates for continuing to realize their golfing and academic goals,” said Earl Fritz, Executive Director of the CJGA. “In 15 years, I’ve witnessed a phenomenal difference in the way juniors are perceived among collegiate coaches. We expect this will continue as golfers in this country show improved results.”
Among current CJGA alumni, 2003 Mizuno All-Canadian Award winner Kira Meixner continues to perform exceptionally well as a member of the Kent State Golden Flashes. Now in her senior year, the Richmond, B.C. resident won the Lady Northern Invitational in September and was named both Golfweek magazine’s Female Golfer of the Week as well as the Mid America Conference (MAC) Woman Golfer of the Week.
