Royal Niagara Golf Course to Host Kaneff Junior Championship

Markham, Ont. (August 24th, 2007) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association will wrap up its inaugural Kaneff Junior Series next week, August 27th and 28th, at Royal Niagara Golf Course, in Niagara on the Lake, Ont. with the CJGA aneff Junior Championship. A strong field of participants includes division winners from previous Kaneff Junior Series events this season.

Scheduled to compete in the Boys 13 & Under Division is Mississauga, Ont. resident Paulino Fernando, 12.  Fernando is the winner of the Junior Linkster Junior Worlds Qualifier at Oakville Executive and two events on the Kaneff Junior Series tour this season including events at Streetsville and Royal Ontario.  The division winner at Century Pines, Christian Jeffery, 13, of Burlington, Ont., should provide for tough competition, as should Kody Fry, 13, of Grand Valley, Ont.

In the Boys 14-16 Division, Taylor Pendrith, 16, of Richmond Hill, Ont., leads the way holding three wins to date this season.  Gordon Elder, 14, of Toronto, Ont., winner of the Kaneff Junior Series at Streetsville, should do well as should Martin Tzankov, 15, of Toronto, Ont.

In the Boys 17-19 Division, it should be a tight race between Christopher Hall, 17, of Mississauga, Ont., winner of the Kaneff Junior Series at Lionhead, and Ryan Kohen, 17, also of Mississauga, winner of the Kaneff Junior Series at Royal Niagara.  Dowey Cho, 17, of Richmond Hill, Ont., should also contend.

PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship winner and Ontario PGA Junior Open winner Hailey Ingleson, 17, of Oakville, Ont., will be hard to beat as she tees it up in the Girls Division.  Brittany Davidson, 16, of Mississauga, Ont., should also do well.

Tee times will get underway at 7:00 a.m. both days.  As always, spectators are encouraged to attend.
