Markham, Ont. (October 2, 2007) – With hundreds of ballots submitted nationally on the Canadian Junior Golf Association’s (CJGA) Junior Tour over the course of the 2007 season, only one lucky junior golfer’s name was drawn as the winner of the inaugural HSBC Trans Atlantic Tee-Off Contest.  Fourteen year-old Adam Shaw of Richmond Hill, Ont. and his family will experience the trip of a lifetime in the United Kingdom from October 9th to 13th, as they will rub shoulders with 16 of the world’s top professional golfers as guests of HSBC Bank Canada at the HSBC World Match Play Championships

The unique global tournament will run from October 11th to 14th at the exclusive Wentworth Golf Club as many of world’s top golfers, including defending champion Paul Casey, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Colin Montgomerie, and Woody Austin will compete for the prestigious match play title.

“I’m really excited to be going to England next week,” said Shaw, after accepting his prize earlier today at an HSBC Bank Canada branch in Richmond Hill.  “I can’t wait to meet all the pros and play in the pro-am.  I’d like to thank HSBC and the CJGA for this great prize.”

For the Shaw family, the unforgettable experience will include Adam’s participation in the Pro-Am as part of HSBC Bank’s Wee Wonders program where he will meet all of the professionals in attendance while situated on the 2nd hole.  Adam and his family will then attend the first two rounds of the tournament, which also includes an exclusive VIP tour of the Wentworth Golf Club.  The week long prize package covers airfare, hotel stay and rental car for the duration of their visit.

“Congratulations to Adam and his family for winning such a fantastic prize,” said Joey Sit, Senior Vice President of the Ontario Region for HSBC Bank Canada.  “We had a tremendous response from Canada’s junior golfers in submitting ballots for this contest through the CJGA Junior Tour and expect that Adam’s trip to the United Kingdom will be an experience he and his family will remember for the rest of their lives.”

“To have an opportunity to meet and watch some of the world’s best golfers as a VIP guest at the HSBC World Match Play Championship is something not many people will ever experience,” said Earl Fritz the Executive Director of the CJGA.  “HSBC Bank Canada continues to be a strong supporter of junior golf in Canada as our members, such as Adam, continue to enjoy the benefits of HSBC’s involvement with the CJGA.
