Scotland Widens Lead at Euro Junior Golf Cup
FIFE, SCOTLAND (July 31, 2008) – Scotland’s unpredictable weather bared its teeth on Thursday and the hometown Fife Golfing Association took advantage, collecting 20 points to open up a sizeable 10 point lead ahead of IJGT Team USA and 11 over CJGA Team Canada as winds reached 50 km/h at the Crail Golf Club.
“The experience of the Scottish team really played to their advantage today,” said John Lawrence, non-playing captain of CJGA Team Canada. “The wind was relentless out there and we had trouble adjusting. It was a great learning experience for everyone.”
The top performance of the day came from Richmond, B.C. resident Curtis Chan who won both of his matches. Chan is now unbeaten in four matches in Scotland. Ottawa, Ontario’s Chris Bockstael was also unbeaten on Thursday.
The final round of the Euro Junior Golf Cup will take place tomorrow at The Dukes Golf Club.
