Fife Golfing Association Wins its First Euro Junior Golf Cup

FIFE, SCOTLAND (August 1, 2008) – An ideal summer day helped CJGA Team Canada win the final day’s singles matches on Friday though it was the Fife Golfing Association who captured its first Euro Junior Golf Cup title at The Dukes Golf Club with 49 points. 

CJGA Team Canada, led by Richmond, B.C. resident Curtis Chan who won all six of his matches in Scotland, earned 16.5 points on Sunday, 1.5 better than the Scottish side and 6 better than IJGT Team USA for a three-day total of 41.5 points and a second place finish.  IJGT Team USA was third with 35.5 points.

“The team played with a lot of heart today and I’m proud of their effort,” said John Lawrence, non-playing captain of CJGA Team Canada.  “We had a tough day on Thursday and were forced to play catch up.  Congratulations to the Fife Golfing Association for their first win and also to IJGT Team USA for the fantastic competition.”

CJGA Team Canada had won the previous two Euro Junior Golf Cups in 2006 and 2007.

CJGA TEAM CANADA: 41.5 Points
