The CJGA offers all members a “STANDARD” portal as part of registering with the association that allows them to post basic information about themselves, see results and register for tournaments. For an additional $50 fee they can upgrade to the “PLATINUM” membership that includes the video package and accessing the college coach database. “Many of the youngsters in our association want to get scholarships in the United States or Canada, but they don’t know how to do it,” says CJGA Executive Director Earl Fritz. “This should be a helpful tool for them as they go through the process.” Staff at the CJGA approves all information posted on the individual sites to ensure the site’s integrity. |

Coaches from colleges and universities in Canada and the United States will also be able to create portals for their individual schools with information about the programs, schools and themselves. CJGA members can then go on-line and contact coaches if they choose. University of Washington Men’s Golf Team Head Coach Matt Thurmond gets a lot of interest from Canadian recruits and currently has three British Columbia players who will be seniors this fall, Nick Taylor, and Darren Wallace and he has another coming in August. Thurmond likes to see kids play in person and get to know them through personal communication, but thinks many coaches will use the service especially those who don’t have a large recruiting budget. Stanford University Men’s Golf Team Head Coach Conrad Ray expressed interest in the service when contacted by the CJGA. The last Canadian golfer at Stanford was Kevin Blue from Ontario, but hopefully he won’t be the last as the CJGA opens more doors than ever before with its exciting new program. |
