Upper Canada Golf Course Set To Host Ottawa PGA Junior Championship
August 20, 2004

MARKHAM, ON-
The Quebec/Ottawa portion of the Canadian Junior Golf Association's 2004 concludes this upcoming week at Upper Canada Golf Course, in Morrisburgh, Ont. for the Ottawa PGA Junior Championship.

After making it to the match play portion earlier this month at the PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship, 15-year-old Boisbriand, Que. native Vincent Adams hopes to capture his first victory of the season in the Boys 14-16 Division. As for 14-year-old Repentigny, Que. product Olivier Chatelain, he will tee it up Monday with aspirations of making it to the winner's circle for a second time in 2004. He captured the division title at the World Junior Golf Cup Qualifier back in May, at Club de Golf Le Chateau Montebello, in Montebello, Que.

In the Boys 17-19 Division, the competition should be interesting as there will be a few juniors with podium finishes this year vying for top spot in the flight. Alex Gibson, 17, of Ottawa, Ont. has a pair of second place finishes while Taylor Fitzpatrick, 17, of Cornwall, Ont. has finished second on one occasion this year.

With a third place finish to his credit this season, 11-year-old native of Montreal, Que. Alexis Gemme Piacente hopes to reach the top of the podium in the Boys 13 Under Division. As for 13-year-old product of Stittsville, Ont. Jonathan Parker, he hopes to rank in the top three for the first time this season.

Finally, in the Girls Division, two juniors who have enjoyed a significant amount of success on tour this season will be teeing it up at Upper Canada. Brittany Henderson, 13, of Smiths Falls, Ont. has four victories on the year while 13-year-old Jacqueline Stol, who hails from Ottawa, Ont. has also been victorious on four occasions in 2004. It will no doubt be interesting to see who comes out on top in this division.

The Canadian Junior Golf Association, in conjunction with the Ontario PGA, Ottawa PGA, Northern Ontario PGA, Manitoba PGA and Saskatchewan PGA, has announced an opportunity for current or past CJGA participants to apply for assistance with their first year enrollment dues with the CPGA.

The initiative allows CJGA members in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario to apply for the funding of their first year CPGA dues through their participation in CJGA events, academic achievements, and contribution to their local community. Three funds will be allocated in 2004-two to Ontario residents, one to a Manitoba resident and one to a Saskatchewan resident.
