August 20, 2004

MARKHAM, ON-
The Saskatchewan portion of the 2004 Canadian Junior Golf Association schedule concludes this upcoming week at Melfort Golf & Country Club, in Melfort, Sask.

Competition is expected to be intense in each division as several players with podium finishes this year are registered to play.

In the Boys 14-16 Division, 16-year-old Swift Current, Sask. native Ryan Wiebe is looking for his second CJGA victory of the season, having won his flight at the Printwest Junior Open Classic back in July, at Wascana Golf & Country Club, in Regina, Sask. As for 16-year-old product of Meadow Lake, Sask. Chris Tupper, he finished second in his division at Dakota Dunes Golf Links, in Saskatoon, Sask.

In the Boys 13 & Under Division, Troy Bulmer, 13, of Melfort, Sask. has a second place finish under his belt as does Jordan Hegglin, 12, of Earl Grey, Sask. so there is no doubt that the duo have the potential to make it to the top of the winner's circle. To his credit, Hegglin also had a victory at the CJGA Junior at Torhill, in Regina, Sask. last month.

With a pair of second place finishes so far this year, 15-year-old native of Saskatoon, Sask. Kyla Reay is among the top contenders in the Girls Division. Her biggest challenger is expected to be 18-year-old product of Foam Lake, Sask. Crystal Reynolds.

As far as the Boys 17-19 Division is concerned, Trevor Procyshyn, 19, of Saskatoon, Sask. enjoyed a significant amount of success on the CJGA circuit in 2003 so he hopes that the trend will continue. With regards to Jesse Handel, 19, of Lyoydminster, Sask. he hopes to place well at Melfort.

The Canadian Junior Golf Association, in conjunction with the Ontario PGA, Ottawa PGA, Northern Ontario PGA, Manitoba PGA and Saskatchewan PGA, has announced an opportunity for current or past CJGA participants to apply for assistance with their first year enrollment dues with the CPGA.

The initiative allows CJGA members in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario to apply for the funding of their first year CPGA dues through their participation in CJGA events, academic achievements, and contribution to their local community. Three funds will be allocated in 2004-two to Ontario residents, one to a Manitoba resident and one to a Saskatchewan resident.

About the CJGA:
