IJGT Team USA Captures 6th Annual Mizuno North America Cup

BLUFFTON, S.C. (July 10, 2008) – Despite a strong effort from CJGA Team Canada, a very talented and deserving American side earned their fourth Mizuno North America Cup title today at Colleton River Plantation Golf Club in Bluffton, S.C.  IJGT Team USA collected 10.5 out of a possible 14 points on Thursday to earn a convincing 18.5 to 9.5 win.

IJGT Team USA rebounded strongly after falling behind 4.5 to 2.5 after the first round fourball matches to win handily in foursome and singles matches.  Despite the score, CJGA Team Canada put in a valiant effort led by playing captain Troy Bulmer of Saskatoon, Sask. and Stephane Boudreau of Dieppe, N.B. who both won all three of their matches.

“The Americans put in a phenomenal effort today and throughout the event,” said John Lawrence, non-playing captain of CJGA Team Canada.  “Our team never gave up and the score failed to show the determination and effort put forth by CJGA Team Canada.  We look forward to 2009 in Toronto.”

The 2009 Mizuno North America Cup will be hosted by Weston Golf and Country Club in Toronto, Ont. in July.
